Thermometer: An instrument for measuring temperature.

Thermostat: a regulator for automatically regulating temperature by starting or stopping the supply of heat.

Most of us have thermostats in our homes. We use them to regulate the environment during the four seasons of the year In winter we set the thermostat for a warm climate in the home. In summer we set the thermostat for a cooler environment. Our home thermostat has within it a thermometer which registers the current temperature of the house. If you set the thermostat at the same temperature registered on the thermometer there will be no change in the home environment. But set it at a lower or higher temperature and the home environment system will go to work to produce the desired results.

Let’s say your five senses represent the thermometer. Your spirit is the environment system, created to produce whatever you program it to produce. Your tongue would be the thermostat which you set with faith filled words. Through your senses you observe your personal environment.

Let’s say your five senses (which we will call the thermometer) register sickness or disease in your body. Since your tongue is your thermostat which programs your environment system (your spirit) to produce your desire, repeating what your thermometer is registering would produce what you do not desire (more sickness and disease). Just as you set a home thermostat you must set your spiritual thermostat at the environment you desire which in this case is healing or deliverance. Setting it at Isaiah 53:4,5; Matt.8:17; Galatians 3:13,14 or 1Peter 2:24 would produce the results you desire.

When your senses (thermometer) registers lack, set your environment system to produce abundance by setting your spiritual thermostat at Luke 6:38; 2 Cor. 9:6-11; Phil.4:19. Whatever environment you find yourself in if it does not line up with the word of God you can reprogram your environment system to produce whatever you desire!

Job 22:28 ISV When you make a decision on something, it will be established for you, and light will brighten your way.

Job 22:28 ESV You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.

Job 22:28 MKJV You shall also order a thing, and it shall be fulfilled to you; and the light shall shine on your ways.

Matt.12:35 “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

Mark 11:23 “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

Rom.10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Prov. 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

All programmable thermostats have a hold button or setting. Once you set your desired environment, push hold and the environment creating unit will keep that setting until you make a change. As we said before, our spirits will create the environment we program into them. Our spiritual thermostat must also be set on hold in order to experience the desired environment.

Heb 4:14 KJV Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.(confession)

1Th 5:21 KJV Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. We set our system on hold by meditating on the word of God.

Jos 1:8 BBE Let this book of the law be ever on your lips and in your thoughts day and night, so that you may keep with care everything in it; then a blessing will be on all your way, and you will do well.

Meditating on the word of God includes continually speaking or muttering the word. Meditating also means to study! For the spiritual hold button to work we must keep the word of God before our eyes and continually speak that word until the desire comes. To speak contrary to the word of God will disengage the hold button.

Rom.4:17-21 In order to change his environment where he was childless Abram had to set his spiritual thermostat in line with God’s word. He had to call himself “father of many nations” even when his spiritual thermometer said he was childless. His spiritual environmental system produced with the help of God the desired results!

2Kings 4:8-37 This woman’s spiritual thermometer registered death! She set her spiritual thermostat to life by declaring, “All is well” again and again and it came to pass!

A thermometer Christian allows his or her senses to dictate what will be produced by their spiritual environmental system. They say what they have then have more of what they say!

A thermostat Christian sets their spiritual environmental system to produce their desires with the word of God.
